Ecomondo, Italy’s premier green economy event, will take place from 5-8 November 2024 at the Rimini Expo Centre, marking a significant moment in the international sustainability landscape. The Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) has positioned this exhibition as a leading hub for sustainability, gathering delegations from over 100 countries and welcoming 72 organisations, institutions, and sector associations from around the globe. “This exhibition solidifies its role as an essential international platform for the green economy, acting as a catalyst for community engagement through a series of global events that extend beyond the exhibition itself,” announced IEG CEO Corrado Peraboni.
International Participation
The event promises to be a vibrant four-day business affair, anticipating the participation of 650 hosted buyers from North Africa, Europe, and the Americas, with significant growth in attendees from Asia, particularly regions like Central Asia, China, South East Asia, Pakistan, and India. Maurizio Ermeti, President of IEG, noted the increasing international participation, made possible through strong partnerships with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Ecomondo’s Global Network
Alessandra Astolfi, IEG’s Global Exhibition Director for Green&Technology, elaborated on Ecomondo’s expansive international network, which transcends national borders. The exhibition is actively involved in related events such as Ecomondo Mexico, scheduled for 5-7 March 2025, targeting the Latin American market, and Ecomondo China – CDEPE, taking place from 27-29 March 2025, focusing on environmental technologies within the Chinese market.
Focus on Africa
Ecomondo 2024 will also place significant emphasis on the African continent, aligning with the Italian government’s Mattei Plan and featuring the African Green Growth event in its fourth edition. This initiative, organised in collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security, aims to enhance cooperation and development across African nations. As of now, eight delegations from Africa and 104 buyers from countries including Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Botswana, Senegal, South Africa, and Kenya have confirmed their participation.
Collaboration with E4Impact Foundation
Collaboration with the E4Impact Foundation, which operates in 20 African nations and focuses on MBA training, acceleration, incubation, and support for local entrepreneurship, is crucial to this year’s event. The fourth edition of E4Impact’s “Business Networking Week in Italy,” scheduled from 4-8 November 2024 in Milan, will concentrate on the Circular Economy and feature a visit to Ecomondo, further enriching the dialogue on sustainable practices and innovations.
A Comprehensive Forum for Sustainability
Ecomondo serves not just as an exhibition, but as a comprehensive forum for thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to come together and share insights on sustainability and green technology. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in various networking events, workshops, and discussions aimed at fostering collaboration and identifying new business opportunities in the green economy sector.
Showcase of Innovations
The event is set to showcase a plethora of innovative products, services, and solutions that address pressing environmental challenges. Exhibitors will include leading companies and startups focused on recycling, waste management, renewable energy, and sustainable development. This diverse range of participants will contribute to a rich dialogue about the future of sustainability and the role of technology in fostering a greener world.
Conclusion
As Ecomondo 2024 approaches, the anticipation builds for what promises to be an inspiring and transformative event that not only highlights the progress made in the green economy but also sets the stage for future advancements. With its global reach and focus on collaboration, Ecomondo continues to play a pivotal role in shaping sustainable practices and policies that will benefit both local communities and the planet.
