The 10th China (Anqing) Huangmei Opera Art Festival is gearing up to celebrate the rich tradition of Huangmei Opera in Anqing City, Anhui Province, from late September to October 8, 2024. Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and the Anhui Provincial People’s Government, this festival has been a cornerstone of cultural enrichment for over three decades. The festival will continue to honour Huangmei Opera, one of China’s five major traditional operas, which has evolved over 200 years of heritage and innovation.
Essay Contest
To complement the festival’s theme of “Advancing with the Times, Uniting with the People,” the Anhui Branch of Xinhua News Agency’s News and Information Center, in collaboration with the Organising Committee Office of the 10th China (Anqing) Huangmei Opera Art Festival, is excited to announce a themed essay contest titled “My Experience with Huangmei Opera.” This initiative aims to invite contributions from literature enthusiasts, Huangmei Opera fans, and individuals from various backgrounds to share their personal experiences and reflections on Huangmei Opera. The goal is to celebrate this cherished art form and envision its future prospects.

- Focus on the Event Theme:
Essays should revolve around the theme “My Experience with Huangmei Opera.” Participants are encouraged to share touching stories, memorable moments, or personal reflections related to Huangmei Opera. Essays can also explore personal perspectives on the future growth and development of Huangmei Opera. While there are no specific constraints on the style or format of submissions, essays should be concise and not exceed 5,000 words. - Originality:
All submissions must be original and unpublished. Any instances of plagiarism or use of previously published work will lead to disqualification. - Submission Method and Deadline:
Essays should be submitted in electronic format (Word document) along with the author’s basic information, including name, contact details, and mailing address.
