LONDON, 02 July 2024 – GRIDSERVE, known for its Electric Forecourts® and Electric Charging Super Hubs powered by renewable energy, has launched a new mobile app for EV motorists. This launch marks a significant step towards achieving net zero transport in the UK.
User-Centric Design Enhances EV Charging
Developed in collaboration with Microsoft Azure specialist Dootrix, the GRIDSERVE app is designed with the user in mind. It allows drivers to:
- Find EV charging points
- Manage payment details
- Access payment history
- Check real-time charging status, including the estimated time to full charge
Supporting Over 190 Locations
The app serves users at more than 190 locations on the GRIDSERVE Electric Highway, which includes award-winning Electric Forecourts®, Electric Super Hubs at motorway service areas, and Electric Retail Hubs at venues like Dobbies. Consequently, this initiative aims to build driver confidence in electric vehicles and boost adoption rates across the UK.
Advanced Features and Real-Time Data
One of the app’s notable features is the charging curve visualization. This function tracks the variation in charging speed during a session, providing drivers with valuable insights. By using real-time data from chargers, the app displays how many kilowatts are delivered throughout the charging process.
Rob Borley, CEO of Dootrix, commented: “This technology sets the stage for future advancements. It will quickly adapt to meet evolving needs and further support EV drivers.”
Improved User Experience
Rebecca Trebble, Chief Customer Experience Officer, highlighted: “We are excited to launch the GRIDSERVE app. Each month, we record 200,000 charging sessions on the GRIDSERVE Electric Highway. The app will streamline these sessions. We have incorporated user feedback to simplify the receipt process. Plus, with 20% off charging this summer, now is the perfect time to explore our network and app for your summer travels.”
Future Developments
Available on iOS and Android, the app helps users find optimal charging locations. Users can navigate to these locations using Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze. This launch sets the stage for future enhancements, aligning with GRIDSERVE’s goal of net zero transport. With over 1,400 charging bays already in operation, GRIDSERVE continues to expand its network.
