GAS Entec, in collaboration with AG&P and local partner Issa Haddadin, has secured a major contract to develop the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah LNG Terminal at the Port of Aqaba in Jordan. This landmark project represents a pivotal step towards enhancing Jordan’s energy independence and security.
Enhancing Energy Security
Jordan, with a population of 11 million and a GDP of USD 48.6 billion, has historically depended on pipeline gas to meet its power and industrial needs. The new LNG terminal will be Jordan’s first permanent onshore facility, marking a substantial advancement in its energy infrastructure. The terminal, expected to commence operations in Q2 2026, will feature a 720 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) onshore regasification facility. This includes comprehensive engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC), alongside marine works, jetty topside development, and other critical components.
Boosting National Economy and Trade
The Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah terminal is poised to become a cornerstone of Jordan’s energy landscape. By enabling access to LNG from various global suppliers, the terminal will bolster Jordan’s energy security and stability. This project is anticipated to not only support Jordan’s power and industrial sectors but also enhance its national economy and trade environment.
A Milestone for GAS Entec and AG&P
The contract, awarded by the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), underscores GAS Entec and AG&P’s prominence in the LNG industry. The selection followed a competitive tender process, highlighting the Consortium’s robust credentials and innovative, cost-effective solutions. GAS Entec’s cutting-edge technology, including modularizing and fabricating regasification components in Korea, will play a crucial role in the project’s success.
