With essential bills set to increase by an average of £660 per year from 1 April, Money Wellness is introducing a free interactive Household Bills Calculator to help UK households plan ahead.
This tool provides a tailored cost breakdown, allowing users to enter their current household expenses and see how much more they can expect to pay for energy, council tax, water, broadband, mobile contracts, food, TV licences, and car tax. The goal is to equip people with clear financial insights so they can prepare for upcoming price hikes.

Breakdown of Key Bill Increases
A range of household expenses are set to rise from April, adding further strain to UK budgets:
- Energy Bills – The price cap is increasing by 6.4%, meaning an average household on a variable-rate tariff could pay £111 more per year.
- Water Bills – Charges will rise by 36%, adding approximately £123 to the typical household’s annual bill.
- Council Tax – Most councils will increase rates by 4.99%, while some have been granted approval for rises of up to 10%.
- Broadband & Mobile Contracts – Mid-contract price hikes will see bills go up by an average of 6.4%, while newer contracts may see fixed annual increases of £3-£3.50 per month.
- TV Licence – The cost will rise by £5, bringing the total annual fee to £174.50.
- Car Tax – Vehicle tax will increase by £30 per year on average, with the exact amount depending on the vehicle type.
- Food Prices – Grocery costs remain a concern, with food inflation expected to rise to 3.4% in 2025.
