Water poverty alleviation charity, Hope Spring celebrates the completion of a significant clean water project in Kwara State, Nigeria.
Hope Spring, a prominent charity dedicated to addressing water poverty, has completed and transferred its latest clean water project to the Ifedayo Community in Kwara State, Nigeria. This announcement was made on the international development NGO’s website, marking a milestone in the charity’s mission to improve access to clean water.
Overview
The completed project features an eighty-metre deep borehole equipped with a powerful submersible pump. The pump delivers water to a five thousand-litre capacity tank, which is positioned on a raised platform. From there, the water is distributed to a designated fetching area, where up to five community members can collect water simultaneously.
The initiative, funded by Hope Spring, was supported by the Ifedayo Community, who provided materials and additional support. Initially scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023, the project experienced delays due to funding shortfalls and seasonal difficulties. However, with all necessary resources finally secured, work on the project commenced in June this year, leading to its successful completion.
Community Impact
Temi Odurinde, a trustee of Hope Spring, expressed satisfaction with the project’s outcome: “I am very pleased that the Ifedayo project was completed and handed over to the community. It was a great pleasure to work with the people of Ifedayo, who played an active role throughout the process. Their support was instrumental in the project’s success.” Odurinde added, “The community will not have to worry about water for at least a decade, thanks to this project.”
Future Plans and Fundraising Efforts
Hope Spring remains committed to its goal of completing five clean water projects in Nigeria by the end of 2024. With three projects already finished prior to Ifedayo, the charity is on track to meet its target. Much of the funding for these initiatives is sourced through Hope Spring eCards, a charity ecard platform established by the organisation several years ago.
The charity relies heavily on donations and the support of its eCard platform to fund its projects. By visiting Hope Spring’s website and social media pages, supporters can learn more about the organisation’s work and contribute to ongoing and future projects.
Dedication
The successful completion and handover of the Ifedayo clean water project underscore Hope Spring’s ongoing commitment to enhancing access to clean water in underserved communities. With the completion of this project, Hope Spring has made a significant impact on the lives of the people in Ifedayo, ensuring a reliable and sustainable source of clean water for years to come.
