Harnessing Nature’s Power: Research in Yunnan
At the core of Botanee’s success lies its advanced research focused on medicinal plants from Yunnan Province. The company has meticulously explored over 6,500 species to identify those with the highest potential for skincare applications. Botanee is currently the leading company in China for new plant-based materials filed with the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), boasting a total of 11 approvals.
One notable innovation includes the use of the rare Prinsepia utilis Royle, commonly known as Himalayan cherry, in Winona’s second-generation sensitive skin cream. This patented extract has shown promise in alleviating skin sensitivity by targeting the CLDN-5 protein. This cutting-edge innovation has received acclaim in China, securing Winona the title of ‘New Product of the Year’ at the 2024 Tmall Golden Makeup Awards.
Strategic Global Expansion
Botanee’s global expansion strategy revolves around fostering collaboration between the industry, academic institutions, research organizations, and the pharmaceutical sector. This cooperative approach has been integral to the group’s growth, thanks to the R&D expertise of founder Dr. Guo Zhenyu.
In 2022, the establishment of the Yunnan Characteristic Plant Extraction Laboratory (Yunke Laboratory) in Kunming marked a significant milestone. In 2023, Botanee launched its first international research center, the BTN French Research Center, in collaboration with the Hôpital Saint-Louis Skin Research Center in Paris. The subsequent opening of a Japan Research Center, focusing on sun protection and base makeup for sensitive skin, further solidified its global footprint.
Sustainability and Biodiversity Initiatives
Botanee is also committed to long-term biodiversity protection and sustainable practices. The company has initiated several projects in Yunnan, such as the Haba Snow Mountain Biodiversity Science Popularization Base and the Biodiversity Courtyard, investing over 50 million RMB through the Botanee Charity Fund in ESG projects. The Yunke Laboratory plays a pivotal role in conserving natural resources and promoting sustainable development by establishing a comprehensive plant bank for the sustainable use of Yunnan’s native plant resources.
A Future Focused on Health and Beauty
As Botanee continues its global expansion, it remains steadfast in its mission to promote health and beauty for all. With its dedication to innovation, sustainability, and collaboration, Botanee is well-positioned to shape the future of the evolving global beauty landscape.
