VitrA Tiles has officially started operations at its Aksaray solar power plant, strengthening its focus on renewable energy solutions.
As a major player in the Eczacıbaşı Group, VitrA Tiles is taking crucial steps towards sustainable energy production. The launch of the Aksaray Solar Power Plant (SPP) follows the 3.5 MW rooftop solar plant in Bozüyük, which was commissioned in 2023. With a 30 MWe/36 MWp capacity, this development ensures that more than 50% of the company’s electricity needs in Türkiye will be met through green energy sources.
Reducing Carbon Footprint with Solar Energy
The new power plant is expected to generate enough electricity to supply approximately 19,700 households annually. It features 65,520 PV modules, each with a 550 Wp capacity, and will contribute to reducing carbon emissions by 37,190 tonnes per year.
VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu outlined the company’s commitment to sustainability, stating: “We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”
The Aksaray SPP installation began in April 2024, with electricity generation commencing in February 2025 following the successful setup of PV modules, inverters, transformers, cabling, and power transmission lines. This project not only benefits the environment but also plays a key role in the sector’s transition to sustainable energy.
